It’s the First Annual Winter Wreath Walk at Oakland Nature Preserve! And you are designing the wreaths!  Let’s line the boardwalk to the pavilion at Lake Apopka with Yuletide wreaths made by all you creative people so that all the rest of the west Orange community can enjoy them.

Wreath Creators – Do you enjoy creating beautiful things? Now is an opportunity to share your creative talents with the west Orange community all while supporting the Oakland Nature Preserve.

Sixty or more illuminated wreaths will make for a pleasant evening stroll, and you will also have an opportunity  to offer your creation as part of a  silent auction or win that beautiful wreath to place on your own door.

The Winter Wreath Walk will be taking place each evening from 6pm-8pm on the Heathy West Orange Boardwalk.

Here are the details for those creating wreaths:

  • Important: Please do not include any viable non-native seeds or berries; we need to protect our wetlands.
  • Theme – Florida in Winter.  What do you think of? Beach? Theme park? Snow globe? Holidays? Family? Traffic?
  • Your wreath may be any size you choose.
  • Please add battery powered lights to your creation. There will be no other lighting on the boardwalk other than flashlights being used by visitors.
  • Wreaths should be family friendly; no political or inappropriate creations, please.
  • Wreaths will be placed along the boardwalk the week before the event. All wreaths not part of the silent auction  may be retrieved the week of December 26.
  • Remember: This is an outdoor event and creations will be exposed to the elements and possible animal interaction.
