Homeschool Classes

Oakland Nature Preserve is proud to offer outdoor nature and 

science experiences to homeschool groups and individuals. 

Bring just your students or a whole group to the Preserve for a regularly scheduled homeschool class, a field trip, or schedule a semester-length recurring education program.

Monthly Homeschool Series Class ages 6-12 $10 members

(family membership required) 

$12 non-members / per student

This exciting once a month program gives homeschool students hands-on science experience to reinforce topics and skills being taught at home. The students will be introduced to the topic of the day and if needed divided into groups for age appropriate activities. This program is drop-off only and 2 hours in length and is limited to 8 students (5 student minimum). We may be able to accommodate larger groups depending on staff availability.

Special Procedures due to Covid-19

Please note that all campers and staff will be required to bring and wear face coverings while in the classroom. Coverings can be removed when participating in outdoor activities.

Drop-off & Pick-up Procedures

Student drop-off and pick-up will take place in front of the Jim Thomas Environmental Education Center in a car loop style.


  • All drop-off and pick-up will be curbside only and no parents/guardians will be permitted inside the building.
  •  All students will remain in cars until staff can properly screen each child.
  •  We will not require the parent’s signature on the attendance sheet, staff will initial.
  • Campers will be given hand sanitizer and then escorted to the classroom.


  •  Pick-up will be in the same car loop as drop-off
  • We will verify the ID’s of the authorized person by using the pick-up list provided to us by the parent/guardian. Staff will initial the attendance sheet. Please make sure that any person permitted to remove your camper from the program is listed on the sign-out sheet. Students will not be released if person is not listed.

Other information

  • Hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer will be required throughout the day.
  • Each camper will have their own personal space and materials for the day.
  • Distancing will be encouraged during all activities.
