    * No bug spray. This not only kills mosquitoes, but also delicate fireflies.

    * No pets allowed. It is unsafe for other visitors & the dogs to navigate past each other on our narrow boardwalk. Plus, dusk is when our Preserve predators are more active.

    * No smoking on the boardwalk/Preserve property. It has been very dry, and fires can start very easily in these hot conditions.

    Half Mile Forest Bathing Excursion & Meditation Session. Bring water. 45-minute session. Hike begins at 9am on the porch of the Environmental Education Center.

    Please register for the Yoga at 10am separately if you wish to participate in the 2-hour mindfulness experience.

     Led by entomologist Christy LeDuc, this is a fun, family suitable program where attendees will learn about different native insects of Florida. A different topic is featured each month. 

    What you can expect: The Program will start with a brief classroom presentation, following by a guided hike on the Preserve, where attendees have the opportunity to see bugs up close and personal!

    What to bring: Participants are advised to bring a reusable water bottle, wear closed toed shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Bug nets and containers will be provided. 

    Where to meet: In the classroom of the Education Center at 10am. 

    Members are free and $5 donations from non-members help support our programs. We have limited classroom space, so we ask visitors to please register in advance. Please check your email and the Facebook page for last-minute weather cancellations.

    Join us at the Oakland Nature Preserve's Ginn Museum for Story Time from 10am to 1030am. The session will focus on a theme, and will allow children, with a parent or caregiver, to enjoy a wonderful story, activity or animal interaction, and time at the Preserve.  

    Story Time activities will be targeted for ages 2-5, but all are welcome to attend and enjoy.
